A Physical Therapist is a licensed health care professional who examines, evaluates, and treats musculoskeletal disorders using research and proven techniques. A physical therapist will develop a plan of care to improve mobility, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability via manual therapies, modalities, exercises and other advanced interventions, while educating the patient on proper daily activity modifications.

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a licensed clinician who works under the supervision of a physical therapist to provide direct patient care. PTAs help implement treatment plans, guide therapeutic exercises, monitor progress, and ensure safe, effective delivery of care.

Since Colorado is a Direct Access state, a referral is not needed for physical therapy. However, some health insurance plans require a physicians referral, so it is best to contact your health insurance plan directly, to determine if there are any specific referral requirements.

Every patients condition is different, thus every treatment plan is unique. After your initial evaluation, we will develop a plan of care of two to three visits a week for two to six weeks, or as prescribed by your referring physician, if applicable.

The initial evaluation lasts about one hour. A normal session thereafter lasts 30 to 60 minutes, depending upon the condition and procedures performed.

As the majority of our treatment is active, we recommend you wear comfortable clothing and shoes appropriate for exercise. For extremity conditions, a tank top (shoulder or arm injury) or shorts (knee or leg injury) is also encouraged. Gowns and changing rooms are available when needed.

Our program is not designed to induce pain, but it is common to experience a fair amount of soreness, aches and fatigue with treatment. We will work with you within your injury and tolerances, but it is imperative you put forth effort to improve the function in your tissues. Good communication with your therapist is important, so we can modify your program as needed.
